Annah N. Abrams, MD
2011 Honoree
Child Psychiatrist, Massgeneral Hospital for Children Cancer Center
As a child psychiatrist of the MassGeneral Hospital for Children Cancer Center, Annah Abrams, MD, has provided pediatric cancer patients and their families with outstanding mental health consultations and ongoing care.
Dr. Abrams also enriches the lives of her patients and colleagues in many other ways. She is the founding co-director of the center’s Palliative Care and Bereavement Program and the co-leader of its Marathon Team Patient Partner Program. She continually nurtures these initiatives with her leadership and direction, and devotes countless hours after her usual work day to ensure the success of these vital activities.
Dr. Abrams is also a key member of the center’s clinic for long-term survivors, as well as a trusted go-to person during stressful periods.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated, caring and talented colleague,” says Howard Weinstein, MD, unit chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children. “I could not imagine practicing pediatric oncology without Dr. Abrams at the bedside of my patients. She is beloved by all of our staff, and our patients and their families.”
