Anne M. Brogan

Anne M. Brogan

2011 Honoree

Intake/Access Supervisor, Pediatric Radiation Oncology

Families from near and far come to the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center at Mass General to obtain treatment for children with cancer. Anne Brogan is the intake access coordinator who orients the young patients and their parents, schedules their appointments and, with meticulous care and resourcefulness, ensures that all is in order for each family — from treatment plans to housing and transportation.

With skill, warmth and compassion, Anne relieves some of the many uncertainties these families face as they begin an intensive treatment process and adapt to being away from home.

“Anne is the face of our department and welcomes hundreds of families, including many who travel long distances for proton radiation therapy,” says Nancy Tarbell, MD, radiation oncologist at Mass General. “She enhances their experience with her special kindness. Anne helps our families settle in, lowering their anxiety. She provides reassurance and paves the way for the complex care that lies ahead.”

Parents often comment about Anne’s way of touching their lives at a vulnerable time. For many families arriving for treatment, Anne is a guiding star.
