2012 Honoree

Nursing Director, Department of Radiation Oncology

As a staff nurse in radiation oncology, Catherine (Katie) Mannix, RN, MSN, OCN, has provided excellent nursing care working in many specialties, especially in urology and sarcoma malignancies. Now as nurse director she oversees a large adult and pediatric department and advocates continuity of care for cancer patients at the Mass General Cancer Center and its satellite facilities. She has expanded the nursing staff to include nurse practitioners and continues to offer her nursing staff opportunities for growth and development.

Katie was instrumental in planning the new Lunder Building radiation oncology floors, having spent several years meeting with doctors, planners and designers.

With Katie, excellent patient care comes first, and she works fervently to ensure its delivery.
