Ellen Slater
2012 Honoree
Philanthropist
Ellen Slater is a driving force behind the success of the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund, which has raised more than $3.2 million. She recently became a member of the organization’s Executive Committee. Ellen works tirelessly to bring awareness of the fund to the community and has been an active member of the ESSCO-MGH Event Committee. Ellen doesn’t shy away from the hard work of soliciting auction items. Her ability to garner some of the most interesting and valuable items for the annual auction has enabled the committee to raise significant funds for breast cancer research.
In addition to her work as a committee member, Ellen has been a co-sponsor of the annual event for the past three years, underwriting it so that 100 percent of what is raised goes directly to Mass General breast cancer research programs and the work of Kenneth Tanabe, MD, chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and deputy clinical director of the Mass General Cancer Center.
Ellen is an integral part of what makes ESSCO so unique and successful.
