Glenn Kelly

2011 Honoree

Philanthropist

Every spring, the nonprofit foundation Golf Fights Cancer hosts a 100-hole golf marathon to raise funds for cancer care and research. Glenn Kelly, one of the foundation’s most loyal and resourceful supporters, has never taken part in the Massachusetts event. Instead, he holds his own 100-hole marathon with the financial sponsorship of his family and friends.

Glenn has become the foundation’s single most successful fundraiser. Since 2005, he has raised well over $100,000 on behalf of Golf Fights Cancer. These funds supported two grants to Mass General Cancer Center, one for its Marjorie E. Korff Parenting At a Challenging Time (PACT) program and another for the pioneering palliative care research of Jennifer Temel, MD.

Glenn’s passion to fight cancer is driven by his devotion to his parents both of whom are cancer survivors. Golf Fights Cancer’s next grant will support the purchase of six infusion pumps at Jordan Hospital on Cape Cod where Glenn’s father receives treatment. When Glenn started his work with Golf Fights Cancer, he had no idea his efforts would have such a direct and powerful impact on his own family.

“We are honored to have Glenn on our side,” says Dianne Lynch, program director for Golf Fights Cancer. “With ambition and dedication, he raises funds for results. He knows that through Golf Fights Cancer he can make a difference.”

Mass General honors 100 individuals and groups for their diverse contributions to the fight against cancer.

There is strength in numbers and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center proves this each year. the one hundred is the Cancer Center’s annual fundraiser, honoring 100 individuals and groups whose diligence and discoveries, philanthropy and passion have helped advance the fight against cancer. Funds raised at the gala support research, patient care, education and community outreach programs.  Meet the Honorees.
