Hahnemann Hospital Foundation and Michael Hetherman
2011 Honoree
Charitable Foundation
Since 2006, the Hahnemann Hospital Foundation has been advancing the field of nursing oncology by generously supporting the Carol A. Ghiloni Oncology Nursing Fellowship at the Mass General Cancer Center.
Approaching retirement in 2004, Carol Ghiloni, RN, MSN, OCN, a standout oncology nurse at Mass General for 44 years and a recognized leader in her field, worked with her colleagues to expand an existing fellowship at the hospital, donating funds from her retirement savings.
The Hahnemann Hospital Foundation, which funds hospital-related programs and charities, has helped sustain the fellowship beyond its first year. Michael Hetherman, ØBK, University of New Hampshire, has led his fellow trustees in continuing to support the fellowship.
An attorney, author and singer-songwriter, Michael (pictured center) credits his beloved parents, Roger and Peggy, for inspiring his commitment to fostering expert, compassionate care of patients with cancer. Michael has been an articulate advocate to his fellow trustees about the importance and complexity of oncology nursing. Through the fellowship, an innovative partnership with Mass General Cancer Center, they invest in developing and recognizing new leaders in oncology nursing.
