Padma Gulur, MBBS

2012 Honoree

Director, Inpatient Pain Services, Massachusetts General Hospital

Mass General anesthesiologist Padma Gulur, MBBS, applies her pain management services to children with cancer. She is available at all hours to patients in pediatric hematology/oncology and their families, many of whom have exhausted their resources in caring for their children.

As the hospital’s director of Inpatient Pain Services, Dr. Gulur is researching new drugs and techniques that extend lives and ease suffering. Her young patients get to stay in school and enjoy their childhood while in treatment. Her leadership has inspired fundraising to meet the often overlooked and specialized needs of pediatric pain management.

Bringing relief to patients in the hospital, clinic and at home, Dr. Gulur also cares for adult patients.

In treatment for breast cancer, Marijean Lauzier is grateful for the expertise of all her caregivers. “But it was Dr. Padma Gulur who relieved my pain. Cancer does hurt. If you are alone with cancer-related pain, I pray that you find your way to Dr. Padma Gulur and her colleagues.”

The 2013 one hundred event is June 5 at the Westin Boston Waterfront
