Tara K. Gustin, BS, RTT
2011 Honoree
Radation Therapist, Department of Radiation Oncology
Tara Gustin, BS, RTT, is a radiation therapist and team leader at the Mass General Department of Radiation Oncology. In 2010, Tara was honored with a special leadership award by her department; and she was recently promoted to the position of team leader of CT simulators.
Tara and her team are the first clinicians to treat the department’s new patients, many of whom are newly diagnosed with cancer. “These patients are often completely overwhelmed,” says Christine Cerrato, technical director of the department. “Tara possesses the skills to put the patients at ease and get the job done right.”
Tara has a dual role: she is both a therapist as well as the leader of a team. As she oversees other therapists, Tara inspires and guides her group by her example as well as her commitment to continual improvement — both in herself as well as in the clinic as a whole. Also a gifted educator, Tara teaches clinical radiation as an adjunct faculty member of the Medical Sciences program at Suffolk University.
“In everything she does,” says Christine, “Tara takes going above and beyond to a new level.”
